In 2018 the PSS enrolled in the international Eco-Schools Programme, the largest global sustainable schools programme developed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). The programme engages students in action-based learning, which starts in the classroom and then expands to the wider school community. In order to be certified as an Eco-School we need to follow a seven-step cycle and if we can show that we have become considerably “greener” then we may even be awarded the Eco-School ‘Green Flag’.
The Eco-School themes that we have chosen to focus on mainly are GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP, TRANSPORT and WASTE. We want to encourage students to reduce their carbon emissions by cycling or walking to school (or to join a lift club), as well as to reduce the amount of waste we produce and to recycle properly.
